What is myCompass?

myCompass is a program designed to help people gain control of mild to moderate stress, anxiety and/or depression using their mobile phone and/or computer. It teaches how to monitor different signs of stress, anxiety and depression and how to use simple self-help strategies to manage problems and improve resilience and wellbeing.

Based on proven psychological treatments, myCompass includes cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy, problem solving therapy and positive psychology.

The program also features stories, facts, tips, motivational messages and a personal journal section to help people to manage stress, anxiety and depressions.

Who developed myCompass?

myCompass was designed and developed by staff at the Black Dog Institute along with software engineers, graphic designers, researchers and mental health experts.

How will myCompass help me?

Problems of stress, anxiety and depression can improve by simply monitoring them for a time. This monitoring is referred to as Tracking in myCompass. myCompass is designed to help you monitor signs and symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression in a quick and convenient way via your mobile phone or computer. It also provides you with immediate feedback in the form of reports.

myCompass also contains modules that have been developed to provide you with exercises and activities to help you better understand some of the triggers and behaviours that may be troubling you. These modules are all based on treatments that have been proven to be effective for stress, anxiety and depression.

Will it cost me to use myCompass?

There is no charge to access myCompass on either your mobile phone or computer, however as myCompass is a web-based program, you will need to use an Internet Service Provider to access the program. Your service provider may charge you for your data transfer to and from the myCompass site.
